Try that Remove device button and when it ask to delete the drivers too answer yes. How to use a micro USB cable with the Xbox One controller

By far, the simplest way to use an Xbox One controller is to use a micro USB cable. Attach to the connector on your controller and any free USB port on your PC, and it'll automatically recognize it's there, and you're good to go.

Any decent cable will do the trick, even the one that you used to use to charge your phone.

However, it's not just desktop PCs that you can use an Xbox One controller with. It's entirely possible to use it with a tablet or laptop, and in those cases, you may only have USB-C connectors available.

The easiest thing to do is get a USB-C to USB-A dongle, allowing you to use a regular micro USB cable through the USB-C connector on your laptop or tablet.

Microsoft also has an official wireless dongle for Windows PCs that allows you to go wire-free. The first-generation controller and the original Xbox Elite controller don't support Bluetooth, so to go wireless on your PC, you'll need the dongle.

It isn't expensive, and the redesigned model is much smaller than the original. Simply plug it into your PC and connect your controller to is as you would the Xbox One, by holding down the pairing button on the top.

  2. Go to devices.
  3. Make sure Bluetooth is turned on.
  4. Turn on the controller by pressing the large round X button.
  5. Click on the controller in your discovered devices to pair.

This is particularly handy if you're using an Xbox Elite Controller, as the Xbox Accessories app allows you to customize the buttons and paddles to a layout of your choice.

If your Xbox One controller (wireless or wired) doesn't work on your PC, you can't play games successfully. This is very frustrating. There are several reasons causing this problem. But don't worry. You can fix the problem quickly by using the methods in this post.

There are four methods to fix the problem. You may not have to try them all. Just work your way down at the top of list until you find the one that works for you.

Note: Method 1 and Method 2 only works for wired Xbox One Controller. If you're using a wireless controller, please skip and move to other methods.

Method 1: Unplug the Controller then Replug it (Wired Only)

Method 3: Update the Xbox One Controller Driver

If the Xbox One Controller driver is missing or corrupted, the controller cannot work properly on your PC. So you can try to update the controller driver. There are two methods to update the driver. This method is update the driver manually via Device Manager. If you don't time, patience or computer skills to update the driver manually, you can do it automatically with Driver Easy (move to Method 4).

Follow these steps to update the driver via Device Manager.

1) On your keyboard, press theWin+R(Windows key and R key) at the same time to invoke the run box.

2) Typedevmgmt.mscand pressEnteron your keyboard. This is to open Device Manager.

3) Expand Microsoft Xbox One Controller. Right-click on it and click Update Driver Software.

4) Select Search automatically for updated driver software. Then Windows will install the new driver.

If the issue persists, follow steps below to update the driver again:

1) In Device Manager, right-click on Microsoft Xbox One Controller and click Update Driver Software.
